You Are So Mine (Tako si moj) is a collection of eleven short stories that deal both with the dissonance of contemporary life – the constant murmuring backdrop of media, politics, and dreams that create the microcosms of individual human lives – and with the struggle of individual characters to find a place in an increasingly confusing world. Although the stories are stylistically varied, they are united by the author’s inspired sense of the mysterious forces that compel our lives, and by the keen observations of minute shifts in body and soul as the characters move through the recognizable features of contemporary life in Slovenia, America, and other locations.
This collection was published in Slovenian translation (translated from the English by Andrej E. Skubic) by Mladinska knjiga, the largest publishing house in Slovenia, in its most prestigious series Nova Slovenska knjiga. It received enthusiastic reviews. Many of the stories have appeared in the original English in American and British publications (Wasafiri, Prairie Schooner, Missouri Review, Epoch, Nimrod and others).
